Built at Swindon in March 1916, it entered traffic at Newport Dock Street. In 1929 it moved to Newport Pill and spent most of the rest of its life at Severn Tunnel Junction until 1952, when it was one of a handful of Churchward 2-8-0Ts used for the Cornish china clay traffic at St Blazey. It returned to South Wales in 1958 and was withdrawn from Tondu shed in April 1964. It remained at Barry Scrapyard for twenty-one years until April 1985, when it was rescued, initially for the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway. Its restoration was completed in 2001 and, after appearing at a number of heritage railways, it is currently operating on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway.
